Individualized Applied Science: Geology is a year-long earth science course designed to engage students in the study of God’s creation through rocks, minerals, volcanoes, and land formations. Grounded in a young-earth, Biblical perspective, this course combines guided research with hands-on learning for a dynamic homeschool science experience.
Course elements include:
- Geology Foundations – Learn about the creation of the earth, types of rock formations, earthquakes, volcanoes, and more.
- Hands-On Activities – Use geology kits and collected rock samples to conduct experiments and identify specimens.
- Field Trips & Reports – Visit local geologic sites like volcanoes or fossil beds to complete field study reports and apply what you’ve learned.
- Flexible, Individualized Learning – Use family or public library resources, online materials, or trusted faith-based sources like Answers in Genesis.
Students can earn up to 1.0 high school science lab credit by completing approximately 150 total hours, with at least one-third dedicated to hands-on work. Partial credit (.25, .5, or .75) can also be awarded based on time completed. A suggested schedule involves two weeks of research followed by one week of hands-on learning.
Note: This course is designed for flexible, individualized instruction and can be adapted to fit your student’s pace, interests, and location. Weekly progress logs and completed assignments are submitted through Family Academy Online to receive credit.
Geology kits can be purchased separately on Amazon.
Ideal for homeschool families looking to blend science, stewardship, and a faith-anchored view of earth’s history.
